1882 Pella Firestation Renovation, Pella, Iowa
The hose drying tower that was original to the site was demolished or lost to age or wind damage. Its reconstruction was based upon old photographs. To prevent the new tower from overturning due to wind it’s wood corner posts were anchored to drilled concrete pier foundations. Structural renovations in the firestation building itself were fairly limited. The building now is strictly a museum.
